Dr. Mailis Gagnon has been since the spring of 2005 member of the Board of ACTION ONTARIO, a non for profit advocacy organization of scientists and health professionals for patients who suffer from neuropathic pain (pain arising from injury to the nerves, the spinal cord or the brain).

She originally operated as co-chair and shortly after as the chair of the organization up to the present.

Dr. Mailis Gagnon was instrumental in spear-heading a patient advocacy group operating as a committee of ACTION ONTARIO and has contributed with the assistance of her computer artist husband, to the group's unique website in terms of scientific content and 3D animation.
