Dr. Mailis Gagnon's work on pain mechanisms, pain genetics, epidemiology and evidence-based medicine has been widely published in peer reviewed scientific journals.

She has also delivered numerous lectures to scientific and lay audiences around the world. Her areas of research relate always to patients or "people" across the following lines;

a) Investigations of pain mechanisms;

b) Description and analysis of the characteristics of pain syndromes or specific chronic pain populations;

c) Evidence based medicine and systematic literature reviews;

d) Ethnocultural issues in chronic pain;

e) Opioid treatments, use and abuse in chronic pain patients.
